Protect work area (using plastic and drop cloths)

Moisturize popcorn texture prior removal.

Remove ceiling texture.

Collect all the debris right after removal.

Repair minor drywall scratches and cracks (light sand and apply a 2nd coat if needed)

Apply 1 coat of oil base primer to seal all surface and neutralize the areas.

Re-inspect all drywall for minor repairs & light sanding.

Apply 2-coats of paint (sanding in between)

Clean work area leave it in clean/broom condition.

Use Flat finish paint on ceilings.
A popcorn ceiling, also known as a stipple ceiling or acoustic ceiling, is a ceiling with one of a variety of spray-on or paint-on treatments. The bumpy surface is created by tiny particles of vermiculite or polystyrene, which gives the ceiling sound-deadening properties. Mixtures are available in fine, medium, and coarse grades.
